Swartland Local Municipality
The National Council of Provinces (NCOP) has formally congratulated the Swartland Local Municipality for being the highest-scored local authority in South Africa.
This honour was awarded to the municipality after research was conducted into the financial sustainability of South Africa’s third tier of government, of which Swartland came out on top.
Part of the municipality’s financial success is due to R-Data’s Promun accounting system, which Swartland Local Municipality uses to conduct all its financial affairs. In compliance with the Municipal Finance Management Act (MFMA), which mandates municipalities to properly fund its daily operations, the municipality has used R-Data’s mSCOA-compliant system to do just that.
A recent report by the Auditor-General has highlighted the overall financial regression of most South African municipalities. Therefore, for Swartland Local Municipality to be awarded such an honour gives testimony to the high calibre of R-Data’s Promun financial system.
We congratulate Swartland Local Municipality for their positive contribution to the upliftment of South Africa’s local government and to its community.
